Barry's dream was for the truth to prevail concerning the evil nature of Israel's leaders. He did not see it and so we won't, at least for some time because Israelis are kept so tight under the rug there is no chance they would blink sooner or later, unless for a miracle.
For around ten years, I had kept a loose contact with Barry. On the second of august, I had written him "Shalom Barry,
because I was kind of worried not having got any newsletter since a long time. Well, he answered me the same day:
together with a text that was so dear for him: "100,000 Radiations - A Review"*. So I thought and answered him, all right, so much pleased you're doing well ...".
Unfortunately, that was not the case.
Back in march 2013, I spent the night of the 27th at his place. It was a few months after his heart bypass surgery. He was doing good but I would have loved to stay some time and give him a help because his appartment was a mess ! I spent the evening cleaning a bit his kitchen without asking him and he did not like it. He was also chain-smoking and the clothes in my suitcase that remained opened at night kept the smell one month !!
I left in the morning and he took me to the next highstreet so that I could hitch hike to Edgewater where I had to see a sailing boat for sale. It was great to see Barry fold in two to enter his car. He was on a fighting mood at the time, but he had been alone in his place, except for virtual friends and I just believe that that's what took him in the end, much more than the heat wave.
The funny thing about Barry's place was that, to enter Clipper Court, you had to drive through Pope road ...
At the time I met him, I didn't intend to come back to the area, but eventually, things took me back to St Augustine and I spent 3 weeks on a boat at Fish Island Marina ...
The world is too small for giants like him and he must now drive in a space fitting his greatness.
